Sunday Snapshot: until I woke up

“When sleeping women wake, mountains move.”

– Chinese proverb
Colorado

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Looking across these mountains left me awe-struck.  They are enormous.  Majestic.  Immovable.  Enduring.

I’ve experienced similar times in my life, situations that seemed enormous and immovable.  Seasons submerged in a waiting for something to shift.  It was easy to let days, weeks, months slide by, buried under the idea that this was simply the way it was.

Until I woke up and realized that I was the change.

I absolutely love this post by Laura, author of Riddle from the Middle. I believe that we all can identify with the sentiments she so beautifully expressed. Her post also reminded me of my grandparents, especially Grandaddy Rieley and Grandma Dooley– Both of whom had an unshakeable faith. I have a very small, black ( King James Version) Bible that was given to my grandfather by my great-grandmother as a Christmas gift in 1925. It’s signed from my great-grandmother to my grandfather, and it’s one of my treasured belongings. In the well-worn Bible, there are sections of the book that open easily: Matthew 17:20 and Mark 11:23.
    Matthew 17:20
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible into you.

    Mark 11:23
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
    King James Bible

I’d like to thank Laura for her lovely and inspirational post as well as an important reminder. I hope you all will visit Laura’s wonderful blog, Riddle from the Middle.

    Have a beautiful Sunday! 🙂
