it’s not just a women’s issue

Women mourn their way through a miscarriage.  The men who love them mourn, too.

“I remember the winter night vividly.  Our unborn baby was dead.

Three days prior to Christmas 2009, my wife and I lost our baby.  I put on a brave face for my wife by saying everything will be OK, and I told my inner circle that we’ll dust ourselves off and try again – but privately I was a mess.”

It’s rare for dads to share their thoughts about miscarriages. This man did. – Upworthy

  1. Every word he writes is true for both the dads and the moms. I remember how my husband cried with me after my miscarriage many years ago. For some reason, I never expected him to dry – after all, it was my body and my baby. It never occurred to me that he had suffered a loss, too. We’ve since had 2 more healthy girls, but I still mourn occasionally over the one we lost.

    • I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’ve been told it’s a pain that never goes away, you just learn how to live with it, but I can’t imagine what that must be like. Sending hugs your way.
