gratitude: that moment in the music

There are so many things I love about music.

The way it can swell and soar, carrying you along for the ride.  How you can find a song to match any mood, giddy to melancholy, frenzied to furious.  That certain songs reach right in and touch your very soul, leaving you forever changed.

It really is a miraculous art form.

But there is one particular moment in music that I’m grateful for, and those of you who perform will know exactly what I’m talking about.

It’s that instant when you and the piece you’re singing (or playing) are perfectly in sync.  When that happens something indescribably beautiful moves through me, bringing the music to another level entirely.  The song strikes the deepest note within me, stirring my soul and lighting a fire that warms me to the tips of my toes.

Those moments are the ones that actually give me goosebumps, showing me without a doubt that every fiber of my being is alive.

It’s a beautiful thing.

My post as part of Colline’s Gratitude Project.
