“There is no passion to be found in playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

We’re born as dreamers.

Preschool children play vet and teacher and chef and doctor without a hint of doubt that it might be so one day.  They dream big dreams and, if asked, will aim for the stars with their ambition.

I’m going to be an astronaut…a basketball player…a fireman…the president.

Nothing is beyond their reach because they’ve not yet been taught limitations.  Adults haven’t had enough time to convince them to blend in, play to their strengths, have a backup plan, accept when it’s good enough.  They dream their biggest dreams because no one has corrupted them with the concept of settling.

We’re all born dreamers.  It’s just that some of us have had our edges worn down over time, so playing small looks like making the responsible choice or accepting that it’s the best you can do.

It’s time to give ourselves permission to thrive in the life we’re capable of living.
