“Sometimes even to live is an act of courage.”
– Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Peering over the edge of that mountain, taking a path stumbled upon in the woods…life is filled with decisions. Choices that send you into the familiar or catapult you into new adventures.
Many of us choose the familiar, especially when we’re feeling fragile. The thought of jumping off a cliff is terrifying, so we reach for what we know and surround ourselves with friends and family. But sometimes just living through the familiar takes incredible courage. When life is excruciatingly painful or the uncertainty is almost too much to bear it takes remarkable fortitude to face each day as it comes.
On those days we need to remember that courage doesn’t always look like running into a burning building. Sometimes courage looks like getting out of bed and living moment to moment until the sun sets once again.
