If you wanted to declutter where you live, what room/space would you start with?  (And why, if you feel like admitting it.)

My kitchen.  The office needs it most, but we spend the majority of our time in the kitchen. Having decluttered space there would be more peaceful for everyone.

If you want to remember something important, how do you do it (sticky note on the fridge, string around the finger, etc.) and does it work?

I use a ton of Post Its.  Some might say I could use an intervention, but the bright colors combined with the ability to post them anywhere is an awesome combination.  Plus I’m stubborn so I won’t take them down until the job written on it is done.  I use my phone’s alarm for important daily events like, you know, remembering to pick up the kids.

If you could create a one room retreat just for yourself, what would be the most important sense to emphasize: sight (bright natural light, dim light, etc.), hearing (silence, music, fountain, etc.), smell (candles, incense, etc.), touch (wood, stone, soft fabrics, etc.), or taste (herbal tea, fresh fruit, etc.)?

Sight.  I’d want bright natural light with plenty of options for varying it.  Sheer curtains to get a hazier effect.  Solid blinds to filter or shut out light entirely.  Ceiling light with a dimmer, and a rock salt lamp in the corner.

If you could interview one of your great-great-great grandparents, who would it be and what would you ask?

I’d speak with my great-great-great grandmother on my dad’s side.  This would be before the family came to America, so I would ask what life was like for her as a child and then as a married woman.  I’d also want to know what wisdom she’d want me to pass along to my own daughter.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m extraordinarily grateful for the flexibility in my life that let me check out on Friday. That migraine was fierce, and being able to fight it with sleep in a quiet dark room is the only thing that saved my sanity.

This week I’m looking forward to Bear’s championship soccer game on Tuesday night. GO KICKING KIWIS!!!
