“The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.”
– Maya Angelou
This quote really spoke to me. Creating a home for us was my mom’s first priority, and she did it over and over again. Each new city brought new schools, new activities, new friends…but always a safe place to land at the end of the day.
It was a lesson that sank deep into my bones, just one of many inalienable truths from childhood: drink milk every day, traditions are important, and home is where your family is.
This is the kind of space BrightSide and I created for ourselves when we got married, and it is my deepest hope that when my children are grown they will be able to say home was always my safe place to land.
