When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

Never shoes (unless I’m busy breaking in new ones).  The rest depends on what level of internal heat wave I have going on.  Today started off with socks and slippers but by 11:00am I was down to bare feet.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

Pizza.  Huh – guess that part hasn’t really changed over the years.

Are you a listener or talker?

I’d say I’m more of a listener.  (Okay, BrightSide, you can stop laughing now.)  When I’m with people I know well, ones I’m really comfortable with, I’m okay with opening up.  But throw me into a strange situation, or even a familiar one but with a large group?  I tend to ask questions and listen more.  Not a big one for the small talk here.

Favorite thing to (pick one):  Photograph?  Write? Or Cook?

My favorite things to photograph are kids and nature.  I love taking pictures of kids at play, during sports, basically doing anything where they’re fully engaged in what they love and aren’t paying a bit of attention to me.  I love the nature shots I take because they evoke feelings – peace, passion, joy, hope.

What is the easiest way for you to learn something new?  By reading, by seeing and doing, in a classroom?

I’ve always said I learn best by doing, but it’s probably more complex than that.  Give me written instructions and I can do almost anything, which I guess means I’m good at reading then doing.  Recipes, cleaning issues, installing filters, assembling things.  But if we’re talking about long term retention then actually doing something gives me a muscle memory that’s easier to access.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Not to sound dramatic or anything, but I’m grateful to have survived Bear’s never ending sleepover on Friday.  We were supposed to take some kids with us to the lake overnight but the weather forecast tanked, so she decided to have it here at home.  I didn’t want to change the times, though, in case people had already made plans…which meant from 5:00pm Friday to 3:00pm Saturday we needed a Plan B.  In the end, though, I realized how wonderful it is that these kids are older because I wasn’t at all freaked out to tote Bear and her friends around for a girls day.

I won’t lie, though.  There was a lot of recovery napping Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

This week I’ve really got to knock some stuff off my list.  Carrying things from my To Do list over from week to week is stressing me out.  But I’m supposed to write about what I’m looking forward to, so…cuddle time with the dogs, rainy days that slow things down, and enjoying that corn on the cob I bought yesterday.
