Tell us about your first bicycle or car?
I officially bought my first car from my dad when I was 22 years old for a dollar, I think. It was the summer before my last year in college, and he finally let me take the car to school so I’d have something to drive for student teaching. It was a white Honda Accord and it was awesome.
What fictional world or place would you like to visit?
I’d like to visit Peacetopia, a land where every life is valued. People coexist amicably, even if they hold different points of view. Somehow, some way, its citizens have managed to reconcile every single philosophy with the belief that life – every single life – is precious. Then they act like it.
I’d like to take notes so we could maybe start acting like that here.
If you could have someone follow you around all the time, like a personal assistant, what would you have them do?
I just did a little giggle there because what?? A personal assistant?? Oh my. Off the top of my head I’d use a personal assistant for errands like car appointments, handling the grocery shopping, doing household chores, and chipping away at home projects that have languished on my To Do List forever.
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
Our little town which can, at times, seem impossibly conservative – not in an “all conservatives are bad” way; more like a “these particular conservatives won’t simultaneously hold that this perspective needs grace” is lacking – anyway, our little town actually held a Families Belong Together rally over the weekend. And people showed up. A hundred and fifty people. Be still my heart.
