What Is Your Favorite Beverage? (for those who really dislike “favorite” questions, hey, time to time, one just pops in and will not be denied).
I never ever ever EVER thought I’d say this…water. Water is my favorite beverage and I’m genuinely stumped when I find myself someplace where it isn’t a good option.
What Is Your Interpretation of ‘The Golden Rule”? Are there ramifications to breaking it?
Ooh! Great timing. I just read somewhere (please don’t ask my where, my mind can be like a sieve when it comes to sourcing) about how we should approach living with the Platinum Rule.
The Golden Rule refers to treating others the way we want to be treated, which carries the base assumption that they want to be treated the way we would like to be treated. The Platinum Rule asserts we should treat others the way they want to be treated. Sounds like a better plan to me.
As for ramifications, I believe in karma.
Sunrise person or sunset person?
Sunset.
Do people in modern society anthropomorphize animals too much?
Probably. I also know I’m totally guilty of this.
What Were You Grateful For During the Past Week?
That Florence shifted and spared our tiny spot here the worst of the storm. Which naturally makes me feel like a clod because so many people are getting destroyed by this stupendously slow force of nature. Still, clod-like or not, I have to say I’m simultaneously grateful we were spared the wind damage and that, knock on wood, we still have power.

I think our dog believes she is a member of the higher-order species. Who’s serving whom?
I am very glad to hear that you were spared the worst of that storm. #noClod

But of course we’re just mere servants in the scheme of things — good for food and water and for potty patrol… 😆

My dog also prefers water, and she has no idea she’s not a people. She DOES know she’s not a cat.

I do not believe my dogs know they’re not people. Truth be told, they probably think they’re royalty given how we cater to their demands. 😆

I really like your Platinum Rule! That’s perfect. So many times people assume I want what they want, but no. I try not to do that. And now I have a rule to cite!

It’s harder to do but more true to the spirit of the Golden Rule, I think. Thanks for reading!

I like the thought of the Platinum Rule…and Karma!
Hope the worst of the storm has passed on by you, and all will get back to normal really soon. 🙂

Thank you. At least the rain isn’t 24 hours a day now so that’s better. Now we just have to wait for the river to do its thing.

Scary to live so close to such a thing! To be spared is indeed a wonderful thing to be grateful for! I like your take on the Golden Rule too…the Platinum one is more in line with what some of us believe anyway. Thanks so much for chiming in! 😀

Fun questions this week, Melanie! It wasn’t until after I hit publish that I realized how ironic that first answer is. Water — think we’ve got plenty of that! Bwahahaha!!
