And did all my men just shake their heads?
Sorry, I know #notall but damn, people, it’s hard to keep a straight head when so many men are looking us straight in the eye and saying “yeah, and?”
Yeah, she was a credible witness. And?
Yeah, we let her testify. And?
Yeah, we listened, that’s enough. And?
I cannot take one more yeah, and. Not One More.
The news cycles are dominated by partisan bullshit and it is for real making me crazy. I feel stupid even having to say this out loud but I’m not sitting here digging in with come hell or high water, Kavanaugh will not sit on the bench! Some people might (#notall) but I think there are a lot of people out here like me. People who just want an investigation by a nonpolitical body into a serious allegation. Like, they get that this can exonerate Kavanaugh, right?
I find myself in the rather depressing position of realizing that there are a lot of people in power who listen (probably), believe (probably), but just don’t care. That once the first domino falls – even when all signs point to wait, pause, investigate – the rest are tumbling into line.
And that’s the best I’ve got for today.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “dom. Use it as a word, or find a word that starts or ends with it.”
I really enjoyed your post on this very important issue. Excellent usage of the prompt.

My faith in our government’s ability to act in a fair and reasonable manner, to remember who put them where they are and why has been diminishing for a very long time, and now I feel if this dark, slippery slope we’ve been on has further to go, I’m not sure I want to be there for it. Maybe I’m wrong to believe that “we, the people” elect these men – maybe I should remember it’s more likely the Super Pacs and other wealthy people that have the real say. I should also remember that far too many of the inhabitants of our government are men, and far too many are men who have been there far too long. I wonder if, really, there is hope?

It is a reality check, isn’t it. I remember how politically idealistic I was in college and just shake my head.

Yes, trust is a hard thing to come by these days. The more I listen, the more questions I have. Too bad there isn’t a vaccine available for people who act “inappropriately”.

You read my mind and said it better than I could have. And it is depressing.

So many forces acting on those dominoes. Good, evil, selfish, honerable – it’s hard to know…It’s hard to trust.
