“When we tug at a single thing in nature, we find it attached to the rest of the world.”

– John Muir

I keep a quotes note on my phone. Everybody does this, right? It’s a handy place to drop quotes I come across, sayings I find interesting or thought provoking. The criteria is a little amorphous – basically if it wiggles into my head with a huh, it’s fair game.

I’ve held onto his particular quote for a few months now. Every once in a while I’d think about deleting it figuring well, if it hasn’t fit by now it must have been a fluke. Sometimes I get those. But then this week, it clicked.

We don’t live in a vacuum. And it occurs to me – just a thought now – that maybe we’d be a whole lot better off if everybody remembered how interconnected we really are.
