1. A working washer and dryer.
Duh. Never say never, but I never take these appliances for granted because I’m for real not down with lugging clothes back and forth to the laundromat. Plus I never have enough quarters on me. And we don’t use a bank with a physical location so I don’t even know how I’d get enough quarters to de-stinkify our clothes. So basically yay, washer and dryer.
2. Detergent pods.
I bought these once when they were out of the liquid for my brand. They might have just stacked the damn things in a different place but I was in a hurry that day so detergent pods it was and now they’ve made the list. Because they’re handy, yes, but even more so because they were super helpful when I first introduced the kids to doing their own laundry.
3. A strip of drying hooks.
I honestly can’t remember what I did with all my air dry items before these hooks. I know we didn’t have them in the last house – maybe I just draped my bras all over the machines, I don’t know. I do know it’s a heck of a lot easier to hang them on a hook.
4. A second strip of drying hooks.
Because you know what else can’t go in the dryer? Bathing suits. Tops I wear over leggings. Things with those tags that scream FOR GOD’S SAKE, WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T PUT THIS IN THE DRYER! In other words, more stuff than will fit on one row of hooks.
5. Bleach pods.
Did you know they make these? They’re like laundry detergent pods except with, you know, bleach inside. I still keep the liquid around for times when it’s necessary but nothing beats being able to toss a bleach pod into the wash and be done with it. No measuring, no worrying about splash back, none of it. Yassss!
6. The dog basket.
This is a little green basket that holds important dog stuff. Flea and tick medicine, heartworm preventative, a dry skin spray, things like that. It also has the canine toothbrush that we totally suck at using on the dogs but our intentions are good.
7. Tide pens.
These things are awesome. I keep one in my purse, one in the kitchen, even one in the car when I’m on my game. Keeping a stash in the laundry room means I’ll always be good to go.
8. Shout stain remover spray.
Y’all, this stuff is Da Bomb. Seriously, I’m hard pressed to think of a stain it couldn’t get out. Maybe pen after I forgot to immediately treat it then let it sit for a week before washing…nah, it probably got that out, too.
9. Sorting baskets.
When we moved into this house I bought one of those handy laundry organizers from Lowe’s. The kind with three canvas bags for sorting clothes and wheels so you can move it around. I love that thing.
10. OxiClean 2-in-1 Stain Fighter Power Paks.
Can you tell we deal with a lot of stains? Yeah. I toss one of these in with every load (except the whites, because bleach) and it does a great job sharpening things up.
You can check out my bathroom list here.
Wow. We could not be more different about laundry! lol I never even considered this! I’m Dr. Bronners and Borax and Fels-Naptha. I’m thinkin y’all have good, hearty skin!
This week was officially week one of the last of my kids doing their own laundry. No more hampers in the laundry room!
I call my laundry room Ugly Laundry Room, but I’m still grateful 🙂

Even an ugly laundry room is better than no laundry room! Perspective, am I right??

My washer wasn’t working one Christmas – kids home, laundry piling up. Part needed to be ordered – part no longer available it was discovered two weeks later. Arghh. As to the other things – I rarely use bleach but have it on hand. I use Persil laundry detergent – it does a great job of getting stains out when dabbed on before washig. Then white vinegar in the fabric softener holder – seems to make colors brighter and whites whiter. Lambs wool balls in the dryer, eliminates the need for softener. A place to dry those “keep them out of the dryer!” Clothes would be wonderful. In the meantime, shower curtain rods serve a second purpose.

Lambs wool balls – that’s one I haven’t heard before. I’ll be checking that out. Thanks!

While I don’t directly appreciate these items, I provide the “demand” for many of them (stains). I am a walking/sitting stain magnet.

Me too!! And if I’ve drained the Tide pen in my purse it’s almost a guarantee.
