Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder.
Wait. That doesn’t sound right.
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder but I’m not sure how much I buy into that one. Sure, sometimes missing somebody reminds you of all the reasons you love being around them. Then again, sometimes having someone missing reminds you how peaceful your life used to be. Careful what you wish for and all that jazz.
Let’s continue.
I was baking for the neighbor gifts yesterday – well, “baking” is generous since we opted for this delightful bit of candy clusters you can make in a freaking crock pot, for heaven’s sake. I was searching for wax paper when I realized we have no fewer than three rolls of tinfoil in our kitchen. Three! I mean, who needs that much tinfoil lying around? Apparently I thought we did. Or, more likely, I just kept forgetting we had some and would buy more. Tomato, to-mah-to.
Considering how much else we’ve got going on I’m impressed we got as far into the process as we have. There’s a bit more assembly to be done and then I can punt to the delivery committee (ie. BrightSide, T-man, and Bear) over the weekend. If I send them out like modern Little Red Riding Hoods bearing sugar rush goodies it will typically buy me a good half hour uninterrupted and that’s pure gold. I get all tingly just thinking about it.
The only thing that would make me tinglier might be biting on that tinfoil. Yikes.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “tin.” Her instructions: Use it as a word or find a word with “tin” in it, and base your post on that word. Bonus points if you start your post with that word.
That last thought made my teeth hurt! Oy!
I am glad to know you do this. I did this for a while with butter. I had to place an official moratorium on butter — I DID NOT NEED TO BUY BUTTER FOR A LONG TIME.

Now that you mention it, I’m pretty sure we’ve got 2 or 3 extra boxes of butter in various fridge drawers. 🙄

Found one! Check this out: https://www.recipe-diaries.com/crockpot-christmas-crack/
The only difference when I make it is I spread the mixture in the cookie sheets (it fills two), let it harden in the fridge, then chunk it up into pieces with a butter knife. That gives me flat, funky shaped pieces of candy. This recipe will give you more traditional mounds. Either way, SO YUMMY!

I was enjoying your post until I got to the part of biting on tinfoil.
I have to go now and eat something soft to make that feeling go away…
Have a Happy tinfoil (eww) free Christmas!

Low expectations, high chance of success. No tinfoil for this girl! 😆

No biting on tinfoil for me, thank you. I’ll find some other way to get my tingles. I usually make bread for neighbors, but they’ve all gone to spend holidays with their kids’ families, so I just made bread for us. Today I’m thinking maybe sugar cookies. Because.

Homemade bread — so much YUMMY. My mom used to make the best sweet bread with icing. We’ve searched in vain for that recipe but no luck…
And sugar cookies just because are the best kind in my opinion!

Haha! Our tinfoil is mustard in that I forget we have it and buy another bottle, then another and before you know it we’ve got a year’s worth of condiment.
Crockpot candy sounds wonderful. What a nice neighborly gift!!
I’ve got lots of 30 minutes alone these days. I miss the commotion of a full house. Why I revel in the moment 😊
Happy Saturday!! Thanks for the smiles.

Everyone tells me I’ll miss the madness someday…I’m sure they’re right, I just can’t seem to see it in the moment. That’s how it turned out for baby days and toddlerhood, though, so no doubt!

True. You won’t even know it’s happened until it does.

Weird, right? Not sure what made me think of that…

Oh, I hate that sensation, shivers. I hope you get some tingly time.
That looks weird, now that I’ve written it, but Linda say no editing.
