What’s wrong but sounds right?
Just act natural. – I can either be natural or I can act natural. They are not one and the same.
She’s clearly confused. – To be confused in a clear manner? To be confused while simultaneously being transparent? To misunderstand proper adverb usage?
That’s the original copy. – No. Just no. It’s an original OR it’s a copy, not both.
They were alone together all afternoon. – Not actually possible.
What physical action or gesture do you find romantic?
I’ve always been a fan of holding hands. And yes, I can literally feel my daughter’s eyes rolling at that one.
What’s something you really resent paying for?
Recycling pickup. Our trash company also handles recycling (shoutout, Waste Management). They will cart off a gazillion pounds to the landfill, but if you’d like to recycle you have to pay a monthly fee. Even better, there’s an additional charge if you’d like one of those rolling cans – the ones they can use an automated truck to empty instead of slowing down their routes with men picking up bins. We’re doing our part here, but we’re paying to do it. And that kinda sucks.
What’s your favorite romance movie? A movie you may find romantic, even if that’s not the genre. I’ve been watching a lot of those lately, loosely titled “romance movie” and found a surprising number of dramas, action and comedy among the hearts and flowers.
Sorry, can’t seem to zero in on any favorites tonight. Let’s go with a sampling.
- “The Proposal” – makes me laugh (and cry) every single time.
- “10 Things I Hate About You” – I know, I know, just call it a guilty pleasure. It appeals to my snark streak.
- “Notting Hill” – OH MY GOSH, is there ANYONE who doesn’t tear up at the press conference scene??
- “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” – Kate Hudson? Ahhh. Matthew McConaughey? Mmmm. And the two of them together? Absolutely adorable.
What were you uplifted by in the past week?
The limitless love and support of family and friends. What on earth would we do without them?

To friends and family! *clink*
I loved your first section. Most excellent.

It falls under the silly things to wrinkle my nose at when I get tired of snarking about, you know…real stuff. 😆

We used to be able to take plastics, cardboard, glass, magazines and newspapers to our dump to be recycled. Then they stopped that, saying it was being abused, and cut back to only glass and cardboard, which annoys me because cardboard will eventually break down – plastic does not. It’s all about them not being able to sell the recycling materials anymore. Which kind of is a slap in the face when we’re trying to make the earth better and it tuns out to be about profit.

It always seems to boil down to money, doesn’t it? Ours will recycle 1&2 plastics but not #5 or milk/water jugs. So frustrating!

Thanks, Melanie. We’re in a holding pattern at the moment. It’s giving me LOTS of practice on the whole “it will be as it’s meant to be” philosophy. Dammit. 😂

Hmm. How did your daughter feel about you sticking your finger on her eyes so that you could “literally feel her eyes rolling”? I’m clearly confused. 😜

I understand – When I included the bad grammar in an article I quoted earlier this week, my wife corrected it until she saw that I also made fun of it. I thought I was going to have to include a disclaimer that “The Editor is not responsible…”

Indeed. Can’t put our name on shoddy workmanship now. 😆

We still have recycling, but we are no longer directly charged for it on the bill. Of course, our basic trash pick-up bill just happens to be more than it used to be, but I’m sure that’s a coincidence… 🙄

Ah, the game of shifting fees. Because I’m sure NOBODY noticed that their trash fee increased. Oh wait, YOU DID. Sheesh.

Yes original copy always bugs me. Paying for Recycling waste is just pants. Especially when you have to carefully separate it into the multitude of different components (or they won’t take it) then most days they just end up chucking it in the same place in the truck anyway.

Ours lets us dump it all in one container but it does make me wonder…do they REALLY have someone sorting it at the other end? Because the only thing that would make me madder than paying for recycling is if all my recycling ended up in the freaking landfill anyway.
