As of six-ish this morning we are a household of teenagers. Only teenagers. No more babies or toddlers or elementary school kids or tweens – this roost shelters youngsters navigating the 13-19 waters.
Hormones, school, sports, girls, hormones, boys, life, drama, hormones, phones, social media, summertime – did I mention hormones? So many changes, so little time, so much to cram into these last years before they head off to college.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
I don’t know why I was worried about hitting this stage. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not exactly a walk in the park and we’re only, like, sixty seconds in…but these kids are kind of cool. They’re doing that whole becoming their own person thing, and while that may be inconvenient when that person spontaneously opts to be vegetarian for the night it sure does make things more fun. I appreciate them on a whole new level now, and I’m able to share a different part of my personality with them, too.
