A summer sun hangs heavy behind
rain clouds blotting out the sky, and
she wonders how it can possibly be this hot
with nothing but gray above
and mist all around.
Sweat mats her hair and
stings her eyes
while a couple of mosquitos
dance around her ankles,
wrecking havoc.
She leaves, wondering if
there’ll ever come a day
when the gray skies lift
and her spirits follow suit.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “leaves.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!
I could feel the sweat and mosquitoes. Thanks. 😉 There will come a day!

That was good.
There’s been a lot of talk about “Summertime Blues” around here. The rain is insane.

Yeah, I couldn’t seem to break out of those last night. Finally gave up and scribbled this one out for socs. Not exactly my typical stuff!!

Yesterday, first day of summer, rained all day, temps in 70s. Where is summer?

You know, I don’t really mind temps in the 70s. We average upper 80s & 90s here and that just makes me want to hide inside. SO MUCH OF THE HOT!!

When I moved to the midwest from the south, it was the 12th day of May and it was already 94 degrees there. We had to pull out sweaters when we got here. But I like a few weeks of good ole hot. Just NOT months like in the south.

Yep, it’s when it stretches like an eternity that I lose the will to live. Give me the spring and fall every single day and I’m a happy gal.

Nice response to the prompt. We have had too many days under gray skies this spring and here it’s been cool rather than hot. Let’s hope the wind and weather patterns change and we have more days with sun.

I’d love to see some blue sky!

Love this. I suspect your hot is just a bit different to a Yorkshire hot.

Never having been to Yorkshire can’t swear to it…but it’s awfully sticky here. 😑
