“The world, we are told, was made especially for man – a presumption not supported by all the facts. A numerous class of men are painfully astonished whenever they find anything, living or dead, in all God’s universe, which they cannot eat or render in some way what they call useful to themselves.”
– John Muir

Excellent thoughts and photos to go with the quote – I agree, I wonder what he’d think of the world nowadays?

Beautiful photos to go with the Muir quote. I assume he included women in his “man”.

That’s always my default assumption. 😉

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos, Laura. The sentiment in John Muir’s quote is spot on for the current era. I think he’d be sad.

I cannot even imagine what he’d think of how we treat the world around us…

Stunning photos. They really are. Are they all Yellowstone – sorry geography was not my best subject at school.

Good gracious, me either! Most are all in that area. Many are Yellowstone but we also visited the Grand Tetons on that trip. The twisty tree one is from Muir Woods in California, though.
