Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat) a good thing, a bad thing or a mixture of both?
Like most things I’d say it’s a mix. Much has to do with user intentions. You can spread love and joy or hate and discord, and here in the U.S. the First Amendment protects all of the above short of hate speech. I’d say the other part as to whether it’s good or bad is wrapped up in user stability. When we lose ourselves entirely – when we get info solely from social media and are sucked into believing what we see there is the real world – it ends up stripping away at our quality of life.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my social media, but moderation is important.
Are you camera shy or do you pose for the camera with confidence?
Definitely camera shy. There’s one photographer who worked some kind of voodoo a few years back and I loved those pictures – everything else has been ick, though, so I tend to freeze when someone points a lens my way.
Is there anything you’ve kept from younger years for sentimental reasons alone?
Yes, I’ve got a keepsake box tucked away. Among other things it holds my baby book, a ballet bag filled with Barbies and a mini afghan my mom crocheted, my third grade poetry project, my Brownie/Girl Scouts sashes, photos from middle and high school, a playwright award, and my yearbooks.
Do you like to decorate for different holidays?
I like the idea of decorating for different holidays. Christmas is the only one that actually seems to happen.
Do you feel you’re a strong person character-wise? Also, if you do have a gratitude thought or picture you’d like to share, please feel free! The world can always use more positive vibes!
Yes, I do. Here’s my gratitude thought for the day:
“Often the best source of information about waste, fraud, and abuse in government is an existing government employee committed to public integrity and willing to speak out. Such acts of courage and patriotism, which can sometimes save lives and often save taxpayer dollars, should be encouraged rather than stifled. We need to empower federal employees as watchdogs of wrongdoing and partners in performance.”

Thanks Laura for Sharing Your World. Moderation is indeed the key to enjoying the internet without losing our true selves. What a great idea – a keepsake box! Wow! 🙂

Comes from all that navy moving – if you didn’t want to lose it then you stored & labeled it. 😆 All my people have one. The hubby laughed when I made his but he’s glad to know where his yearbooks are now!

Love your gratitude answer, which I suspect is especially meaningful at this time because of the administration’s attempts to screw this up as it does so many things. Seems to me much of what they’re doing is obstruction of justice.

It is. I miss a time when the president prized integrity as an act of courage and patriotism. I’m glad there are those of us who still do.
