“When I’m sometimes asked ‘When will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court]?’ and I say ‘When there are nine.’ people are shocked. But there’d been nine men, and nobody’s ever raised a question about that.”
– Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Notorious R.B.G. had a run in with a stomach bug last week and it reminded me how lucky we are to have her voice in one of the biggest courtrooms – scratch that, the biggest courtroom – in America. If you haven’t seen the CNN documentary on her incredible life I highly recommend it. You can check out the trailer here.
Linda hosts One-Liner Wednesday. Check out her blog to see who else is participating this week.
I am a huge fan of RBG! She is absolutely right – no one thought anything out of the ordinary with 9 men on the Supreme Court!

I do think that women will eventually save this world.

I believe that as well.

Great quote. We need more women like RBG in all areas of government and all the halls of justice.

So true. Any room without a single woman (or, dare I suggest it, more than one) is missing the perspective of half the population. I loved how many women ran for office in 2016 for just this reason.

Honestly, I pray so hard for that woman. I had no idea how much she’d accomplished in her life so far before I watched that CNN special. She really is incredible!

Sadly so true. For all the so called progress we have made we are so stuck in the Victorian times in far too many areas.

I think of myself as a progressive but *I* had that weird reaction when I first heard “when there are nine”. Her logic is unassailable. Sometimes the lessons of patriarchy are buried so deep we don’t even realize we’re in it.

I’ve read that quote before and I love seeing it! Why shouldn’t there be 9 women? Why would that be strange? Fabulous! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
