What did you have for dinner last night?
Gluten free pasta with a terrible red sauce. (Shoutout to the lady who parked her cart directly in front of the pasta sauce shelves, forcing me to reach blindly in to grab the first jar that looked vaguely familiar.) I tossed in some mushrooms and a healthy dose of cheese to achieve edible status.
Would you rather go out on a Saturday night or stay in?
The answer to this one is almost always stay in. “Out” means crowds and noise, wait times and triple price movie tickets. I’ve reached an age when lounging around in pajama pants with a sweet dog curled up behind my legs is an awesome Saturday night.
How are you, truthfully?
Truthfully? Weary. Fall is a difficult time of year for me, and I tend to experience a seasonal low as we head into winter. Too little sunlight, not enough warmth. We just passed my mom’s birthday, too, so Thanksgiving week is bittersweet for me these days.
What’s the best topping/ice cream combination? If you don’t eat ice cream, what’s your favorite combination dessert? (Example: pie and ice cream or pie and whipped cream – that sort of answer)
This will sound beyond boring but if I have to pick just one I’ll always go with the classic – a rich, homemade vanilla with thick, gooey hot fudge. Mmm…

You once described a hot fudge sundae in such a sublime way, I have never fully recovered.

Me either, Joey. Me either. I often find myself lingering longingly beside the hot fudge display but force myself to keep on walking — mostly because spooning that stuff straight from the jar feels like a perfectly reasonable coping strategy at the end of a long day. 😆

Thanks Laura for Sharing Your World! I’m with the rest of your commenters here, I’d have moved the cart. No need to be apologetic about it either. It was HER mistake, not yours. I hate those sorts of people too, but I’m kinda mean about it and will *AHEM* loudly if some twerp is standing around either yapping on their cell phone or yammering to the neighbor as if they hadn’t seen each other for years. It’s SHOPPING people, not social hour. The idiot who abandons their cart wholesale? I’ve furtively put some items in their cart back on the shelves just to be evil. See what I mean? You were thoughtful and considerate and I think that’s wonderful! Happy Thanksgiving and may you have ‘enough’ (great quote! ) 😀

Good gracious, removing items from the cart is hardcore! 😆 You can bet that’ll be in my head the next time I’m stuck…Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

I’d’ve shoved the lady’s cart out of the way.

Yeah, it must have stuck with me. I’ve moved several carts out of the way in the days since. I try to graciously smile as I do so and assume everyone else is as distracted by the holiday as I am.

Your shout-out is my new pet peeve – people who just randomly abandon their carts like they are the only person in the store. This has happened to me so many times lately, that I swear I will end up on the evening news after an incident.
I hope you ease into and totally enjoy this holiday.

Right?! I think she’d stepped back down the aisle to grab something she’d forgotten but come on! Just take the cart with you and work those upper arms! Did another store run this morning…there’s probably at least one more in the works but I may just send hubby on that mission. He doesn’t get nearly as worked up. 😆

Now that the kids all have lives of their own, we like to eat out once a week , either Friday or Saturday.

I actually enjoy eating out but around these parts that is THE thing to do on Friday and Saturday nights. (Most weeknights, too, it seems.) Restaurants are overrun with humanity. I think once it’s just us I won’t mind killing the wait time having a glass of wine but it’s challenging with a family of four (even if the “kids” are teens).

Definitely it should be done when waiting is not tedious or challenging.

Spooky I had gluten free pasta last night. Mine was topped with what was labelled as the perfect dairy free cheese. Might as well have just shredded a plastic bag.

Oh man, dairy free cheese? I just don’t know…I honestly gave up pasta altogether for about a year after changing my diet just because I couldn’t face the new taste up against the memory of “real” pasta.

I must admit some of the newer gluten free pasta options are not too bad at all. Sometimes the sauce is the problem here.
