Can you bake a cake? (credit for this question goes to Di, who asked it on her post https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2020/02/29/its-a-mystery/ recently. Thanks Di! After last week’s SYW, we needed a little bit of sweet and light!)
Absolutely, I can bake a fabulous cake. Not just box cakes either. I make a delicious pound cake from scratch…now if I can just figure out how to convert it to gluten free without losing any of the yumminess.

For our daughter’s junior prom, she bought a dark purple gown. The boy she went with died his hair to match her dress.

Thank you Laura for Sharing Your World. I ate the crusts. I didn’t get a choice in the matter. Sometimes (if the crust were particularly dry for example) I’d nibble around it, but I usually got yelled at for wasting food. The birds (to whom I’d give the crusts) didn’t mind though. Congratulations on your restful sleep! That does revive a person, doesn’t it? 🙂

Oh yes. Those extra few hours made me feel almost human.
I should have qualified my answer – I didn’t eat the crust when I was at school & could throw away the evidence. At home mama definitely was of the “don’t waste food!!” mentality.

It is fun. I would like to try purple next time. I have dark brown hair and I hope it shows like red did.

Box cakes are a good start because they have directions. A few random tips: Add eggs one at a time so they fully incorporate into batter. Set timer for low end of bake time – you can always put it back into oven but can’t undo an over baked cake. Get a cake tester to check interior; also, if you put your ear to the pan a cake that’s done makes a light crackling noise. Good luck!
