Pancakes, waffles or French Toast as your breakfast favorite?
It’s weird but I’ve pretty much lost my taste for all three of these since gluten turned on me. We used to make fabulous French toast from this yummy sweet bread my friends brought back from a Boston bakery, though – now that was deliciousness.
Do you think a person’s name influences the person they become?
I do, with “influences” being the operative word here. We make our own destinies, yes, but societal norms shape how people react to us and therefore how we present to the world. For example, a woman named Lola or Angel may find it difficult to be taken seriously as a scientist. Girls named Joy, Melody, or Grace might feel a subtle pressure to be upbeat, optimistic, or otherwise live up to their name, so to speak. Naming a kid is a major responsibility, folks.
Would things get better or worse if humans focused on what was going well rather than what’s going wrong?
I don’t know that it would get worse but I don’t think it will get better. If we focus on what’s going well it tends to make us feel better, more content, grateful for what we have…and don’t get me wrong, that’s all good. But if we don’t focus on what’s going wrong in the world – if we don’t see what needs to change, both in our own lives and in others – then there really is no hope of building a more equitable world.
Is math(s) something that humans created or something we discovered? Is looking at reality mathematically an accurate representation of how things work?
Ack! My English major brain just imploded a wee bit. It’s so late and I’m a double margarita in so let’s put it this way: math is math is math. We can’t survive without it and I for one am super grateful to have it in my arsenal when it’s time to cook or bake or mix a drink. Good enough? Good enough.
What are you grateful for right now? I realize it’s difficult to be very positive right now, unless one is being positive that things are pretty awful. Let’s spread the joy in gratitude!!
I think it goes without say the double margarita is on this list. Ditto for gluten free brownies, sleeping in, cat snuggles, fuzzy throw blankets, and sunny days.

Thanks Laura for Sharing Your World and some great treat ideas with us all. One thing I truly do miss is the top shelf blended margarita. *sigh* I could have one if I wanted of course, but then they’d have to pour me into my car and I’d have to sleep there all night as there’s no way I could drive. I suppose I could make my own, but I’m not going there. I’d drink the entire blender full and probably poison myself…
You enjoy yours for me, and I’ll enjoy French toast (my favorite) for YOU. Fair trade? Well maybe a bit more on my side… 😆

I will consider this a very fair trade, Melanie. Lucky for me I’ve got the stuff to make a margarita at home — not blended so it’s not exactly perfect, but it’s tasty enough. 🙂

Right. (Just so you know fools seldom differ as well.)

I can’t believe some of the names people give their kids. I think it borders on child abuse.
I had fun with the math question…

I agree with the name thing. I mean, Apple?? Blanket?! There’s unique and then there’s bizarre — it’s so unfair to saddle a kid with a crazy name for life.

I’m sure a math brain could be much more philosophical about it. 😉

i’m all about the savory breakfast treats, like croissants, and i am very grateful for them as well as continued good health.

Oh, croissants! I LOVED croissants!! Warm and buttery, straight from the oven…those were the best. 💛

I agree with you on good v bad, but the people in power and the people in media seem to thrive on spinning us up with bad/controversy. We need to put our thumb on the scale and notice what’s good and compassionate. We need to achieve balance.
You do well on two margaritas 😊

Thanks, Dan. Tiny headache this morning but I’m choosing to believe that’s allergies kicking in. 😆

You are so right regarding focussing on the good and the bad. We can’t ignore the bad but we can tackle it better if we stay positive.

I’m so with you on the first answer. Loved these until Gluten farted in my general direction. The alternatives have never been the same. I’m having a go at gluten free brownies this afternoon as our stores are basically out of gluten free stuff. Take care.

If you’re interested in a GF brownie mix I’ve had good luck with Betty Crocker and King Arthur Flour — they’re both super chocolatey and go best with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to cut the sweetness. I’ve ordered both online before when my stores were out. Good luck!
