What’s something you really resent paying for?
The first checked bag for an airline flight. TSA restrictions make it nearly impossible to fly with only a carry-on so that fee sucks. I’ve already paid for my ticket and for years that purchase price included a suitcase because who on earth expects a human being to travel without personal items? Nobody. Which reminds me, I also resent paying for an aisle/window seat or something that’s randomly considered a “premium” seat due to row location.
What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen?
This is a toss up between Goodfellas and The Silence of the Lambs. I have a disturbing feeling there’s one more but it traumatized me so much I blocked the memory.
Do you judge people?
It would be great to be able to claim zen master status and say why no, I never judge people except I’m a little too human for that – or maybe a little too honest. I judge people. I do. I’m trying to get better about what happens next.
Finish this sentence: “Back in my day, we…”?
Took calls on the house phone with the fifteen foot cord. That way we could stretch it out and into the hall so we could dish dirt with our friends without our parents eyeballing us.
Please feel free to share an uplifting photo, thought or meme to show your own gratitude. We can all use some good vibes!
Our sweet girl turned fourteen today. FOURTEEN. It’s hard to wrap my brain around so we won’t even try. She seems okay but I know she’s got to be bummed about not being able to see her friends for her birthday so here I am giving a big old happy birthday shoutout to our Bear.

I haven’t traveled since luggage flew free.

I don’t have high praise here. More like it’s a means to an end.

I’m right with you on the Silence of the Lambs and Goodfellas. I hope your daughter can enjoy her birthday. Mine is on the 22nd, but since I’ve had so many I won’t miss a big bash.

Yeah, Martin Scorsese is a hard no for me now. Also slasher films and movies where women are stalked and tortured because boundaries.

I stopped at the original Halloween.

Thank you Laura for Sharing Your World! Your ‘wee one’ isn’t so ‘wee’ any longer is she? Maybe it would cheer her up to do a Zoom Party thingie. I haven’t a clue how that works, but it appears to be a thing among the younger set. And maybe a promise of a future contact party when things settle down a bit more? If they do…. aw. Not going THERE! I never saw ‘Goodfellas” and I read the book “Silence of the Lambs” and had no desire whatever to see that film either. My nieces had a thing of calling out “Clarisse..” in that creepy Anthony Hopkins voice though. So not appreciated! 😡 I remember the 15 foot cord on the phone. Made it easy to go in a room and lock the door so no family members could taunt you if you were trying to have a private conversation.

Ours was never close enough to a room to close a door. I remember stretching that cord out of the kitchen and as far down the hall as possible. My kids are like “but what about privacy?” and I just laugh and laugh at the thought of what my folks would have said. “Privacy?! There’s no freaking privacy! You’re under 18, you live in my house, and I’ll listen in on any damn conversation I want!” 😆😆

So the concept of blowing out all the candles in a half dozen zoom windows does not appeal to her ? Happy birthday bear !

Yeah, she’d rather just skip it. Not so much into the idea of a parade by the house either. We’re kinda low key around here.

Oh, the stretched out, tangled up phone cord!
Happy 14th birthday to your daughter. Hopefully she can celebrate virtually with her friends.

I hope so, too. She seems content to just chill out and binge watch Grey’s Anatomy right now. Oh, and lots of loving on the golden. 🙂

Happy birthday to your daughter. 14, where did those years go.
Am I ok to admit that the Alvin and The Chipmunks Road Trip Movie has traumatised me deeply.

You are 100% okay admitting this. Not to brag or anything but I’ve never seen this one. Sounds like I should be grateful for that.

Happy Birthday to your daughter. 14, oh my.
Airline fees were added or increased when they were struggling in the “great recession.” The recession ended, but the fees increased. Now, we’ve been asked to bail them out again. I understand, we need airlines, and this is beyond their control, but forgive me for wanting them to have to reach deep in their pockets and find the bag fees I paid from 2012 through 2019 – you know, the ones they no longer needed.

Good grief, the bailout is making me crazy. There’s money there they can use to help themselves before asking us to fund them, especially when so many ordinary people are floundering.

Oh no, no way, I didn’t see that one. I’ve learned to refuse to watch the ones I’m fairly certain will trigger to me.
