I am trying to find ways to educate myself and speak up. Our society, the way we have treated people of color is horrendous. Currently reading “Just Mercy” which is an eye-opening account from a civil rights attorney. I can hardly believe how awful and inhumane one person can treat another simply because of the color of their skin.

I’ve heard “Just Mercy” is a powerful read. Didn’t they make that into a movie or series? I thought I heard something about it being on Netflix…

Yes, it’s a movie and I understand you can watch for free during June. But I wanted to read the book first.

Absolutely. I can’t think of a single movie I didn’t like better as the book but I might work in reverse this time and watch the movie now.

I just had a long conversation with my husband’s 85 year old aunt who doesn’t seem to understand ‘why can’t things just stay the same’.

But how wonderful that you’re having the conversation. 85 year old minds can be hard to change but being willing to try says a lot about you.

We must try, Laura. There is peace in recognizing the truth about our past — and unfortunately our present.

It does. Too many of us have fallen silent. Doesn’t mean we have to stay silent though.
