X marks the spot!

This is the beginning to every great pirate treasure quest ever. I hear some kids even drew their own treasure maps, marking the place where they buried their prized possessions like baseball cards or Barbie dolls with a big red X.

Now this just sounds like madness to a navy brat. Who knew how long we’d stay in one place? And what were the odds the missing treasure would just slip my mind until we’d cross state lines? Pretty darn good.

The best treasure hunt movie that comes to mind has to be The Goonies. A bunch of rag tag kids determined to save their neighborhood by finding some long lost treasure – it’s classic ’80s fare. And of course you knew some kid stumbling across a pirate’s map in the attic – X Marks The Spot! – kicks off the whole adventure. Check it out if you’re looking for some mindless fun.
