Haters gonna hate, you gotta brush it off.
This is solid advice, one that I drop often with the teens. Whether they take it or not depends on the day. Sorta. It probably also depends on hormone fluctuations, sleep deficiency, blood sugar levels, and whether Mercury’s in retrograde. Still, I offer it up.
I can brush a lot of stuff off but every once in a while something gets under my skin. Like really digs in there and refuses to dislodge. It’s a problem, see, ’cause I’m over here all “kids, you just gotta let it go or it’ll eat you alive” while I’m sitting there getting gobbled up from the inside out. I have one of those now. Not a hater specifically but something I’ve done my best to brush off except it’s not really going to go away until I handle it.
Because sometimes brushing it off just won’t cut it.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “brush.” Use it as a noun, a verb, or an idiom. Have fun!
Yes sometimes you just can’t brush it off you have to answer back💜

In my case, brushing it off is temporary. I usually brush it down the side where it can fester up again. I have to decide with full certainty that I do not give a flying blankety blank before I can truly move on.

Yeah, I’ve had a number of things fall into my blankety blank column over the years. I find the certainty of it helps. 🙂

If I have to, or better yet, choose to, handle something hard, timing is important. We can’t do much about hormones and planet alignment, but we can try to get decent sleep and blood sugar levels as we summon the courage to change the things we can. I hope it goes well.

That’s an excellent point about timing. I’ve been trying to teach it to the kids but they tend to lack the patience to put off important conversations for a better time. For instance I *told* my daughter it was a bad idea to approach my husband about getting a nose piercing on a day when everything possible went wrong at the office…sure enough that convo went horribly. Maybe she’ll remember for next time! 😉

It’s taken me a lot of poor timing experiences to remember this. I still forget sometimes.

Sometimes you have to margarita it away. When the hangover clears the answer becomes clear. Just never never never share this solution with the teens.

As everyone has said, sometimes action is required. Sometimes you just gotta go there.

Taking a deep breath and I’ll get it handled this week. This group is the perfect nudge.

I hate those things that just loom over me, especially when ‘handling it’ means I must wade into the muck and the mire. Good luck.

Thanks, Maggie. It’s the waiting for that other shoe to drop that kills me every time.

Yes. I understand that all too well.

Been there, so I completely understand. Sending you encouragement to either let it go or take care of it.

We’re gonna have to go with one or the other, that’s for sure.

Sometimes even the Hulk Buster Suit fails to work and something does get through. That’s when you just got to scratch that annoying itch.

True. The anticipation of conflict is usually the worst part for me.

It is for a peaceful person. But then it’s left hanging out there, that’s even more stressful
