He knew COVID-19 was airborne. He knew it was more deadly than the flu. He knew there was asymptomatic spread and it endangered more than “just” our elderly and vulnerable.
Then he lied. Repeatedly.
On January 23, 2016 then candidate Donald Trump described his loyal base at a campaign rally in Iowa saying, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”
We’re at 190,000 dead Americans and counting. Do I think being forthright about the risk and coordinating a national response would have saved them all? No. But it would have saved a lot of them. It also would have saved a lot of people who are now post-COVID infection and still struggle with long term effects.
I guess we’re about to see how many Trump loyalists will stick even after hearing these tapes.

His supporters will continue to support him, because theirs is an alternate reality. I do not understand, I just do not. I think many unkind and uncharitable thoughts about them.

The man is a fluster cluck on wheels equipped with afterburners. Devastation and destruction is his goal. Particularly destruction of the Constitution and the rule of law. And everybody he can fit on 5th Avenue and your local hospital emergency room. And with his ‘work’ on the USPS he is going after remote and home bound Rx user prescriptions and voters. Not to mention all of the other evil things he has done in almost 4 years.

There really are too many to list. Maybe someday when I’m feeling ambitious I’ll try making a comprehensive list of transgressions — it would have to be limited to time in office, though, since I don’t see myself writing an encyclopedia.

The loyalists – especially those in Congress – are more mystifying than the ignorance and manipulation of this administration. What disregard for the lives that could have been saved. Now that his followers’ hate has been released from Pandora’s box, how will we ever contain this evil again?

I don’t know that we can and that’s a depressing thought. I can’t believe I’m watching such a large number of people fail to perform their sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. If we don’t manage a huge reboot in Congress this year then I don’t know how I’ll regain faith in the system.

I hope some of these families that lost loved ones come together to sue. If he can’t be charged with mass murder — and I’m starting to wonder if he’ll ever be held accountable for his illegal activies — then maybe they could sue for wrongful death.
