1. Boy, talk about a clusterf*ck. Trump hospitalized, GOP members dropping like flies…it’s almost like there’s a pandemic attacking our country, including Republicans. Shocking.
2. Here’s a photo from that Amy Coney Barrett White House event last weekend:
One day students will sit in history class learning about the Great Pandemic of 2020 and this photo is gonna be hard to comprehend through that lens. The footage from the Rose Garden ceremony is equally dumbfounding.
3. Side note: Has anyone else noticed how severely melanin deficient Republican photos are? Seriously. The intern classes, the GOP selfies, the Republican women running for the House this year, all soooo very white. Lawd.
4. Anyway, sure enough my SoCS head count was off before that post even hit and we just keep adding names to the list. I think we’ve established covid19 doesn’t care what political party you claim, how much money you have, or whatever other nonsense the ‘MERICA crowds peddled. So this is it, right? This is where logic and reason finally gain a foothold in this insanity? Not quite.
5. Health updates for Trump are troubling.
- Nobody’s sure if we can trust anything put out by the White House, their representatives, or the physicians.
- The timeline isn’t really shaking out.
- His treatments don’t match up with their rosy “he’s hanging in there, getting better every day” song and dance.
6. For some reason people take offense to “karma” as a response to 45’s illness. I think J-Dub explained it best in Saturday’s conversation. She notes, “Karma (car-ma) is a word meaning the result of a person’s actions as well as the actions themselves. It is a term about the cycle of cause and effect. According to the theory of Karma, what happens to a person, happens because they caused it with their actions. … Karma is not about punishment or reward.” I’ve been teaching my kids that their actions have consequences since they could walk. It’s unfortunate so many grown adults didn’t learn this lesson themselves.
7. Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie checked himself into a hospital as a precautionary measure on Saturday afternoon after announcing he’d tested positive. Of the 210,000 U.S. covid19 fatalities how many were people who died at home because their doctors told them to wait to be “bad enough” for hospital care? Or died because their illness was so severe by the time they arrived they couldn’t be saved. Or those who can’t afford health insurance so they can’t access medical care. Or front line workers who contracted covid while working without PPE.
8. Trump, in his twitter video yesterday: “It’s been a very interesting journey. I learned a lot about COVID. I learned it by really going to school. This is the real school. This isn’t the ‘let’s read the books’ school…” It takes a special kind of narcissist to put Sure, a couple hundred thousand of you’ve died, but until I had COVID it wasn’t really on my radar out into the universe.
9. MOOD: Disappointed but not surprised.
10. Sunday’s outing in a black SUV with at least two Secret Service agents was just par for the course. Because nothing screams “I learned a lot about COVID” like dragging two Special Agents along so you can plop your covid positive ass into a small space that’s hermetically sealed and do a drive-by for your adoring fans.
It’s all becoming like a true never ending nightmare. The fact that you can’t rule out him not being in charge this time next year is the true nightmare.

This election cycle is the worst thing I can imagine. A pandemic, election interference from abroad and our own government, and a sitting president who will surely battle the results if he isn’t reelected or destroy our country if he is.

It’s all other worldly. I liked the first world better, back in the day. As for the tRump, he could not survive without his spotlight. Hmmm.

It’s SO UNFAIR when the Fake News talks about my covid. Why don’t they say things like I’m knocking it out with one punch?? [cue foot stomp]

Chump Trump is creating his own “fake news”. Mark my words, he will use this “real school” moment to boast he’s now an expert on Coronavirus.

The language he’s using is so offensive but everything that comes out of his mouth is. Saw this morning they’re prepping to release another “commemorative coin” celebrating Donald’s “incredible defeat of the coronavirus.” The copy actually made me want to vomit.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy now has a special Covid-19 edition with a warning emblazoned on the towel. It reads “If you accidentally find your self in a country named MAGA do not utter the words ‘take me to your leader’. You will regret it. And even your towel will not provide sufficient protection”.

You know those cartoon scenes where a character gets hit in the head and there are little birds and stars ✨ spinning around their head? I feel like that ALL.THE.TIME.

Me too. This morning I thought to myself I wonder if things will ever be normal *enough* again that I can get into that “lighthearted post” head space.

If you wrote this as fiction, people would think you had gone too far.

Right? A publisher would NEVER take this proposal. “Too unrealistic.” 🙄

It is all too disgusting. Not sure I believe it for a minute. All to convenient timing.

Right? I flip back and forth between “there’s no way he got sick after that disastrous debate, he’s just disrupting the news cycle” and “of course he got sick, it was just a matter of time.”
