What news event do you vividly remember hearing about as a child, and where were you?
Diana and Prince Charles were married. I remember people who got up at four in the morning so they could watch – not me because even back then I was distinctly anti-early morning events but I poured over the photos and was glued to the tv later on. She was like a princess come to life that day, her long train trailing up the cathedral steps, blushing sweetly on that carriage ride. We’ve just finished watching the latest season of The Crown and it’s been a strange dichotomy to absorb.
What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe?
“The Christmas Shoes.” Just…no. The little boy. Holding the shoes. To buy for his dying mama. I just can’t, man.
What is one place you shop(ped prior to Covid) that might have surprised people?
Is it weird that I’m struggling to remember where I shopped pre-Covid? Seriously, I’m at a loss here. And when I do think of places they’re totally boring, run of the mill, not very surprising places to boot. Anyone shocked to hear I loved wandering through Target? Meandering through PetSmart? Ooh! I’ve got one! Some of you might be surprised to hear I could lose ninety minutes in an Ulta seeing as I’m not exactly the super stylish type.
What is your least favorite holiday side dish?
So it’s not technically a dish but there was my first year at a family gathering where I mistook the beets for slices of cranberry sauce. That was unpleasant.
Share something heart warming that’s happened to you lately.
The kids made a run to the store this week for goodies – some Ben & Jerry’s and cookie dough, to be exact – and actually brought surprises back for BrightSide and me. Without prompting. [cue wide eyes] Look, it’s not like my kids are obnoxious but like most teens they’re not always the most perceptive individuals on the planet. I must have really looked like I could use a pint of ice cream that night.
