Anyone else finding it nearly impossible to write a stream of consciousness post today? Just as I try to start something about sky’s the limit my brain flits to twitter or news clips or CNN commentary or the latest arrest. It doesn’t help that I just saw a truly disturbing video of a Capitol police officer being crushed in a doorway while holding back a mob trying to enter. It was…disturbing doesn’t quite cover it, that was actually painful to watch. Also troubling to hear a horde of people yelling “HANG MIKE PENCE” as they tried to force their way into the building.
Oh, but wait. Patriots. And the people’s house. And ‘Merica.
For freak’s sake.
Ah, the hell with it.
The ability of Republicans to try rewriting history knows no bounds and seemingly has no end. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – gaslighting falls on my list of deadly sins because WTF, we’ve WATCHED you bow and scrape to this man for years. You did Trump’s bidding and/or laid low and stayed out of the way for five years and now you want to distance yourself? No. Nope. NO.
Ted Cruz is banging the drum. He’s been Trump’s lap dog for years. On Tuesday he retweeted this:
Because Stop the Steal and Patriots Rise Up. He whipped those people rolling into town into a frenzy, watched them head off to Trump’s rally then waited for them to come show their support at the Capitol. Cruz helped to create those monsters then when they turned on him he tweeted this:
Since Wednesday night he’s tried turning on the meal ticket he’s cashed for years, claiming Trump had gone too far and he’d called him on it for years. Really? I’m constantly astounded at the balls on politicians. Either they are naive enough to think people haven’t saved receipts to prove every time they capitulated to that egomaniacal train wreck of a president or they’re foolhardy enough to think they can smooth talk their way out of anything.
WE SEE YOU, TED. We also see Giuliani, Hawley, McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and every freaking Republican who signed onto this ridiculous election fraud nonsense. Your lies and rewriting of history might have no end, but you know what else is long? Our memories. We won’t forget what led us to this week in America. We won’t forgive either.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “sky’s the limit.” Write about something that has or seems to have no end. Enjoy!
