“The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.”
– John F. Kennedy
It’s a brand new day in America. Do I think this sprinkles magic pixie dust over everything? Of course not, I’m not delusional. We’ve got 25,000 National Guard troops in Washington, DC tasked with protecting our democracy until we can eject Trump from the White House. There’s fencing and checkpoints and freaking barbed wire in our nation’s capital – of course a swearing in ceremony isn’t a magic elixir, but it’s the first step in restoring responsible leadership and I’ll take it.
Linda hosts One-Liner Wednesday. Check out her blog for the rules and to see who else is participating this week.
I think there are situation when neutrality is okay and even helpful, but not in in times of great moral crisis which is what we’ve living in. Hopefully Joe Biden will ease that crisis and help us move toward respect and cooperation.

We are surely in a time when there’s no two ways about it, people have to pick a side. I can’t find any common ground with those who continue to undermine the election results without proof, provided any support for the coup, don’t recognize the new president, or support ideology that believes some people are better than others. I sure hope a Biden/Harris administration moves us in the right direction.

It’s hard for me to understand how people can believe those things. I hope we can build bridges and a few will see the light of logic and compassion.

I felt so much pride seeing a woman be sworn in today as our VP! Wow. What a great day for women everywhere. People make jokes but I don’t think they understand the magnitude of what this means for girls everywhere, especially women of color.

They really don’t. To look at a poster of our country’s leaders and see row after row of white men makes so many of us feel unseen. President Obama was a start, and I’m thrilled that VP Harris has taken her place in history. Onward!

Watching this much-awaited inauguration on PBS. Huge relief that thus far it has been peaceful. I am feeling some hope again.

I am so happy for this day! and of course, he pardoned our very corrupt former mayor on his way out the door, one more stab before going.

He made a bunch of trash moves in the last 24 hours. Best (worst?) one was the “drain the swamp” prez revoked his own order so his staffers could immediately become paid lobbyists. Just rotten from start to finish.
