House Impeachment Manager Rep. Jamie Raskin opened the Senate proceedings yesterday with this thirteen minute video. GOP Senators will be hard pressed to publicly justify excusing Trump’s actions after seeing such a meticulously compiled timeline of January 6th and how 45’s actions intertwined with the mob’s.
For the second week in a row I’m blowing the one-liner rules but everyone should see this. Be warned that the content is graphic and very upsetting.
Linda hosts One-Liner Wednesday. Check out her blog for the rules and to see who else is participating this week.
I definitely needed this truth 😩💯

Regardless of the outcome, the facts need to be seen. The video is powerful. Thank you for sharing it.

It surely is. I wasn’t able to watch much of the trial today but I understand they shared a lot of Capitol video that hadn’t previously been released.

I listened to some on NPR in the car. When we see/hear it all together like this, it’s even more powerful and frightening. But one thing I never get tired of watching is videos of Eugene Goodman.

Isn’t that the truth! He did such incredible work that day. I can’t imagine having that sort of terrifying memory living in your head, though.

I know. I hope they’re getting all the help and support they need.

It seems just a flawed system.

It surely is. I’m not sure the framers of the constitution could have ever imagined the players in politics today.

More games, more denials, more obfuscation. I want to see 45 held accountable for his heinous actions, but I doubt that the GOP will let that happen. From what I can tell that which I think of as a flaw they think of as a feature.

I know. My husband asked what was the point, it’s not like they’ll vote to convict. I have that feeling sometimes — the despondency about the GOP’s refusal to hold their own accountable — but I want the receipts when these folks come up for reelection.

Laura, while sixty seven votes may prove illusive, and likely will, the one thing the MAGA base and sycophants are trying to mask is the former president is guilty of sedition and inciting an insurrection. Not just a little, but a heavy hand. One cannot specifically lie for two months about a planned and staged voter fraud tactic, denounce judges, election officials, judges, governors, secretaries of state, the US AG, et al, many of whom are Republican, invite his more zealous base to Washington, wind them up and point them at the capitol and say he had nothing to do with it. Seven people are now dead because of this enfant terrible former president lies about the election.
The most succinct line was uttered in a group meeting by the US Attorney General, before he was later fired (forced to leave). William Barr said “Mr. president, this election fraud stuff is bulls**t.” Keith

I hadn’t heard that line before but man, does it sum things up. Every bit of this nails it, Keith.

Rest assured, most GOP senators will figure out a way to justify not voting to convict Trump. Unfortunately.

I woke up thinking about that this morning. And the thing that really jams me up is trying to decide whether a secret ballot would change the outcome or if they’re really just that far gone.

It should be decided by secret ballot, but it’s not. At least this way we will know who the spineless ones who put a man over country are.
