Do you feel you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know?

I’m a big fan of questions – the more, the better, I always say. I’d much rather ask about what I need to know than feel anxiety because I’m guessing, but when I’m über stressed I seriously fall down on the job. You know those times when you’re responsible for somebody else so you’re supposed to be taking in all the info so you know what to do? Yeah, well, sometimes I’m kinda freaked out in those moments so I’m not great at absorbing info or realizing I have no idea what that word meant so I should probably ask for clarification. Really drives home the “there are no stupid questions” perspective.

When did you fail to speak up when you feel you should have?

I spent a lot of my twenties and thirties sitting quietly when I should have spoken up. No specific instance I can name, just a collection of uncomfortable moments that left me feeling like I should have said something. The off color joke told in the break room or sexist comment about what someone was wearing – I wish I’d spoken up more back then.

When was the last time you felt lucky?

I hit the brakes hard to stop for a light. It was one of those that changed at the witching hour moment – soon enough to stop, late enough to call it yellow if you kept on going – but I opted to stop. Unfortunately the driver behind me must have been looking down or at their phone or something because I saw their head snap up in the rearview as they slammed on their brakes and shimmied a little to the right. I was lucky not to get rear ended that day.

What is a boulder?

Very large rocks often seen jutting out from mountain ranges as we drive between them muttering PLEASE don’t crash down on me PLEASE don’t crash down on me. Alternatively, a very large rock seen lying on the side of the highway as we mutter Thank you for not crashing down on me!

Feel free to share your gratitude with everyone!

I’m grateful we didn’t lose power in last week’s ice storm because worrying about losing food in our fridge/freezer stresses me out.
