Sometimes the universe (by which I mean Linda) sends a curveball, sometimes it lobs something right over the plate. A nice fat softball just waiting to get whacked out of the park.
Gee, look at me using all the sports metaphors like a…sporty person.
How on earth did Linda know I had the movie Butter on my blog planner for half of February? I missed my chance right after we watched it then the next week flew by. Before I knew it I was measuring out whether to transfer those notes to my March sheet and here we are, one week later, looking at “butter” for the first March prompt. The fates (and Linda) have spoken.
Let me just drop this here.
This was a movie recommendation. I was kind of cranky the night we loaded it up and remember telling BrightSide I’d know in fifteen minutes if I was on board. Six minutes into the movie I was gasping through my tears omg, I’m gonna tinkle, I’m in! I’m in!! We watched it on HBO Max and I laughed myself silly.
What’s it about, you ask? There’s the rub. This movie defies explanation. It’s about love and America and family and values and strippers and sex and dirty tricks in an Iowa butter carving competition which, hand to God, is apparently an actual thing. I can’t tell you what it’s about, I can only tell you if you enjoy highly irreverent humor then it’s must see tv.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “butter.” Use it as a noun, use it as a verb, use it any way you’d like. Have fun!
It sounds right up my alley! Too bad I don’t have HBO Max, but I’ll keep an eye out for it otherwhere. Got some of my favorite actors in it, so….

I take a photo of the butter carving at the state fair every year 🙂
The movie looks light and quirky — may watch.

Definitely light and quirky with parts that are highly inappropriate. Good times. 😆

That looks fun, but I don’t have HBO Max. Need to go see if there are choices!

I was surprised to learn it was from 2011 or maybe 2012. You can probably find it on one of the other streaming platforms. 🙂

I love irreverent humor. Guess it is time to consider HBO Max.

We have our cells on AT&T so it came through that for us. A lot of films are releasing on there this year, though, so the timing is good.

It sure is! So glad it’s out there, though, because words really can’t do this thing justice…

I had no idea there was such a movie. I’ll have go check that out with my brother if I get to visit Iowa this year.

We keep stumbling onto movies we’d never heard of. Turns out anything that came out from 2005-2012 had a good chance of being missed altogether. Too busy chasing after kids, I guess.

Well, butter carving is news to me. It took me a while to get used to ice sculpting being a thing as well. Either way I think you have to be quick….

Okay, so this movie had ALL the details. They set up enormous blocks of butter inside these plexiglass cubes/rooms that are kept cool enough to maintain the butter in a solid state. So fascinating!

I must see it then.
