What’s the worst commercial you’ve recently seen (or heard)? Why was it so bad?
Well, they weren’t made recently but every single Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercial I’ve ever seen falls in this category. The graphic depiction of animals being tortured or starving to death is Way Too Much.
What takes a lot of time but is totally worth it?
Good skincare. Granted, “a lot” is relative since for me good skincare means a nightly face wash or swiping with micellar water. Still, the theory stands.
Have you ever smiled at a stranger and then wished you hadn’t? Why or why not?
Absolutely. Back before I had a sense of when to stay shuttered I smiled at the wrong guy on the T in Boston and he paid just a little too much attention to me until I got off at my station. Lesson learned.
What do you think is the nastiest tasting food? (This one might be a recycled question. It’s familiar to me anyhow.)
Mussels. That’s based on food I’ve actually eaten but if I’m allowed to include items I’m certain will taste foul based solely on their smell then let’s add squid, collard greens, and chitterlings.
Are you at peace with yourself? Your world? Please share, whether you said “yay” or “nay”!
Dang it, Melanie, it’s a crappy time to ask this question! Fine. Normally I’m at peace with myself and how I move through the world. I have some things out of alignment that are stressing me out, though, so peace is a bit of a stretch at the moment. I’m working on it.

Mussels? Oh my. Properly prepared in a light white wine sauce, these are delightful. Otherwise, great answers.

That’s what people keep telling me. To be fair I tried them on a cruise when I already felt inches away from barfing so…but I still can’t make myself try them again. 😆

Understood. That’s the benefit of being an adult. You don’t have to eat what you don’t want to.

Thanks, Laura for Sharing Your World! Marilyn shared a rather more invasive story about smiling at the wrong guy on the subway in New York. It sounds like doing that (or making eye contact) is a bad idea. I’ve heard of chitterlings, but I don’t actually know what they are – I have the impression they are pig parts deep-fried or something? It’s a Southern thang, that much I do know! I’ve had squid and found the texture – interesting – (chewy like gristle)…I would say it’s not for everyone certainly! I am sorry your world is off kilter a bit just now, but I know YOU (at least from here, no weirdo stalkery thing going on. I’ve never ridden the T 😉 ) and I know you’ll find your balance. It’s just how you seem to roll! Best wishes for that to happen in a speedy fashion! Take good care!

Thanks, Melanie. Public transit poses a real dilemma — you want to put good vibes out into the universe but strangers don’t always take that the right way. I have to say I’m EXCEEDINGLY grateful I’ve never been presented with chitt’lins (I had no idea how it was really spelled until now!) at someone’s house because mama raised me to be polite and I just can’t see eating them. 🙂

So what are they? Am I right and they’re bits of unidentifiable pork, deep fried?

Large intestines, usually of a hog. In the US I think they’re typically stewed. 🤢

Oh my GAWD. *urp* That’s absolutely disgusting!! My father, who was raised on a farm, told about that stuff. His mother used to make them too, and I always wondered how he gagged it down. Even if you completely sterilized that stuff, it would still be nasty! My sympathies on it being a food of the South… Ugh!
