I never felt like a particularly lucky person. There were people for whom everything just sort of dropped into place, easy as pie, a fits-like-a-glove kind of life…then there’s me. I fall into the nothing-good-comes-easy category. You know, like most of the people on the planet.
This isn’t a woe is me post. I’m genuinely bumbuzzled by people who walk through life with everything dropping into their lap like manna from heaven. How does one really appreciate the good stuff when it doesn’t take any effort? How do you feel the highs when there aren’t really the lows? I don’t mean the buried under a pile of sadness lows, but those everyday obstacles we maneuver to make things work? They make the good stuff extra good, y’know?
So in general I’ve never considered myself a randomly lucky person but really, when I look back I see all the ways I lucked into the opportunities to make my choices. Which is its own sort of luck.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “luck.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!
I kinda thought I was lucky then life happened. Now it’s definite a blessing to get more days to see if I’m lucky.

That’s a good way of looking at it.

We tend to make our own circumstances, Laura. You make good decisions, that is a blessing.

Sometimes that’s what gets me through.

We were on a similar wave link though I did mention some things just fell into my lap but when you feel the feels the way I feel the feels, I have both extremes. Thankfully even keel is in there too at times. Luck/fate/kismet whatever one calls it, sometimes I think we we get what we get and how we deal with it speaks volumes.

So true! The “how we deal with it” part can make or break us.

I’ve not been particularly “lucky” either, but I feel blessed in so many ways – family, friends, the peace of retirement. I believe that our “down” periods in life is what gives us a better understanding of life and eventually makes us stronger.

Absolutely true. I better understand now that the down parts are part of life and that they bring their own lessons.

Yes, I’d consider myself lucky in a similar way –

Kind of like a pseudo-luck club. 😉
