Texas has dominated the latest headlines on reproductive healthcare rights. Their moves are horrifying but they’re not new; people who’ve been paying attention have been sounding the alarm about states chipping away at Roe v. Wade protections for years now. Even now we’ve got states moving to follow Texas’ lead in restricting access to constitutionally protected healthcare in the United States.
I’ve discussed what it means to be pro-choice with a number of people but this is the best explanation I’ve seen yet. Voluntary consent as the ultimate right of body autonomy. Click on the text to see the entire post — it’s worth the read.
Why dues this feel like we are stuck in a time 40 years ago. It’s 2021…. We really should have learned how to treat each other my now.

Unbelievable. I was at the freaking women’s march back in college yet here we are, STILL fighting for the right to control our own bodies. It’s infuriating.

If George Orwell were writing 1984 today instead of ‘big brother is watching’ the catch phrase would be ‘big brother is raping’. There is no clause in the Declaration of Independence that says that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness does not apply if you happen to have a vagina. If this nonsense in Texas and other backward thinking states keeps up they will have to change another phrase – the only things sure in life are pregnancy, death, and taxes.

Isn’t that the truth. I’m just hoping we haven’t been too slow to wake up and push back.
