2022 is bearing down on the world. In my opinion 2021 was 100% better than 2020, but it hasn’t been without its own set of problems and fresh worries. I’m hopeful that 2022 will somehow see a return to ‘life before Covid’, but I also realize that’s a foolish hope.
At 12 a.m. on December 31st/Jan 1st, what will you be doing? (use your own time zone please)
My fanny will be firmly planted on my very own couch. To be fair that was typically the case even pre-covid but with Omicron gallivanting around like an Oprah special — YOU get the covid! And YOU get the covid! — I’ll be staying home.
Is there a tradition you have for New Year’s Eve?
Not one that’s do-or-die. We usually watch the ball drop on tv and lately Bear’s been into seeing the musical performances. We’re pretty low key.
Do you have any hope or reason you find that next year will be better?
The only thing keeping me sane right now is standing firm in the knowledge that next year will be what it will be regardless of predictions. Better, worse, or something in the middle: it’s bound to be one of the three.
What’s the biggest personal lesson you learned during 2021?
Setting boundaries is critical to a healthy life.
Describe in 1-3 words how you feel going into 2022.
Tired. Frustrated. Concerned.

Thank you Laura for Sharing Your World! I hope things improve enough that you aren’t feeling quite as tired, frustrated or concerned! “They” and that danged virus haven’t taken dreams away at least, even if they’ve dinged hope badly. I think the prudent person is being low-key about most things, it’s the most sensible course of action, so your own plans are right in keeping! Happiest of New Years and take care of you!
