I’m fifteen days out from my diagnosis, seventeen days after symptoms started, and I have some thoughts. More than a few, actually, but we’ll just hit one today.
Whoever’s peddling this we’re all gonna catch it eventually, we might as well get back to normal bullshit is either obscenely callous or ridiculously short sighted. YOU DON’T WANT THIS.
- There’s no guarantee you’ll have mild symptoms so stop treating covid like a freaking cold.
- Let’s say you’re asymptomatic or only experience mild discomfort — that doesn’t mean the person you pass it to will.
- Even an asymptotic or “mild” case in a vaccinated person can lead to long-term health issues. It causes an uptick in mortality that grows progressively worse over time since SARS-CoV-2 attacks the brain, heart, lungs, blood, testes, colon, liver, and lymph nodes.
- All of these points, including #3, apply to children as well. Our children are not safe.
Then there’s this:
So it seems like Dr. Walensky’s saying it’s encouraging news that the majority of deaths are among people with disabilities. Can you imagine replacing that with any other group? “We find it encouraging that over 75% of covid deaths occurred among children whose immune systems aren’t yet fully developed…”
When will we stop normalizing this madness?
Four co-morbidities- one the comorbidities bingo card if you have bad knees, chronic pain (from the bad knees), insomnia (from the chronic pain), and visual impairment (need glasses to read my prescription directions) you are in the higher risk group and hell…. who cares if you are at higher risk- you deserve it because basically, you are unhealthy anyway.

I went and got groceries yesterday – it’s discouraging, sad, and angering how many people are not wearing masks in stores that say they’re required.

I’m admittedly frustrated that nobody enforces that. But then I think about the videos of employees being attacked or even shot for enforcing mask wearing and I can’t really blame them.

Even the old standard ‘that which does not kill us makes us stronger’ does not apply here. First off it has done to damn well a job of killing so many. And it leaves a whole lot of weaker and generally disabled people in its wake. No. No. There is nothing bright or good about covid. Just no.

I think of that line from Shakespeare every time someone comes up with another asinine rational for just letting us all get sick.
Great post, Larua.

CDC statements like that show a callous view of human life. It sounds like you are feeling better. I hope so.

Much better. I never could have concentrated long enough to post even a paragraph last week so…

Only a sick person can use this rationale! All lives are precious, healthy or not so healthy people! Well said Laura

Thanks, Sadje. I felt the same way back in 2020 when some politician said senior citizens were willing to sacrifice themselves to reopen the lockdown. What?! Who gave you the right to put Grammy’s head on the chopping block?

You’re welcome. I recently read a book by Penny Louis on this theme. It’s a work of fiction but hits close to home.
