In your opinion, what do you buy way more of than most people?
Hair products. Between me and the girl we have got serious hair product in this house.
Which workers have the worst jobs?
I know this is completely subjective but I’d say service industry workers across the board are dealing with a level of crappiness that’s reached peak obnoxiousness. Honestly there are days I’m astounded at the amount of self-control these people display while dealing with the general public.
Opinion. John Cage is a composer who composed a piece named 4’33” for any instrument. The performance are instructed not to play their instrument for four minutes and thirty-three seconds. Is this music or is this art? A combination of the two? Neither, it’s stupid. Your opinion?
Seeing as they don’t actually play their instruments I’d call it art rather than music. A unique display of art for sure.
How good are you at drawing?
I’m what one would call not bad. Not particularly good but I can hold my own. Nobody would ever mistake my doodles for anything other than rookie drawings, though.
Feel free to share one amazing thing you’ve experienced (any time frame).
There was that time I experienced eating with my people.
BrightSide and I were visiting Italy and we’d been invited to eat dinner out with a group one night. That evening was like being called home to the mothership. We started late — maybe around 8pm — and dinner lasted three hours. We had appetizers, soup, salad, main course, and dessert, each one eaten at a leisurely (to me) pace. The owner kept bringing out wines to try with various dishes. I loved having a meal where enjoying one another’s company was just as important as enjoying the food on the table.
Sparks from a Combustible Mind hosts Share Your World.
Meals in Sweden were also leisurely eaten. My spouse and I honeymooned there visiting his family. I had never experienced three hour meals at a restaurant before.

I loved it. I still seem to annoy my friends and family by eating at a ridiculously slow pace but at 51 that’s here to stay. 🤷🏻♀️

I am a speed eater. It comes from decades of teacher lunch time constraints. We had 30 minutes. Getting all the students out of the room, never took less than 5. Heating up lunch, eating lunch, and getting back to class meant you had to inhale your food.

Thank you Laura for Sharing Your World! That dining out with your people sounds AMAZING! One of my favorite films is “Eat, Pray. Love” mainly because of the Italian scenes and the food sharing. It just looks so inviting and cozy, and the food? Spectacular!! I seriously wanted to learn how to make that kind of spaghetti with fresh herbs and tomatoes (which are off my dietary menu for the foreseeable future, dang it) a little fresh grated Parmesan! I agree that hair products can be spendy, particularly if one is careful about their hair. Interesting perspective on the ‘art’ piece, one which nobody else came up with either! Have a great week!

Thanks, Melanie. I remember the food being incredibly delicious there. I understand now how Italians must be confused by our eating habits here.

I honestly can’t remember an actual item I ate, just the feeling of being entirely at ease in the space. It was wonderful.
