SO OFTEN. I’m working hard to help my almost 16-yr-old push back against this message that seems to be coming from every side.

I guess one remedy would be to clarify what our existence is about – creating art, learning, helping others, enjoying life. – of course, these interests often change over time.

So true. I think even discovering things like this when you’re young — even if they change — helps ground your joy in something other than people complimenting your looks.
