It isn’t video games.

It isn’t the separation of church and state in our schools.
It isn’t because the teacher/grocery shopper/club owner/graduate/domestic violence victim/random bystander on any given street didn’t have a gun.
It isn’t rap music.
It isn’t because there was only one door or more than twenty doors.

It isn’t because someone’s emo or queer or atheist or anything other than hardcore traditional white Christian fundamentalist.
It’s the freaking guns, for fuck’s sake. IT’S THE FREAKING GUNS.

I love your post and want to see stricter gun regulation, but I don’t entirely agree that guns are the sole cause. Guns facilitate acting out. The need to act out is a mental issue, Just remember, we now know that on top of all other problems people have, Covid damages the brain, shrinking it (2% loss within four months of infection) and harming the frontal area which governs emotions and decision-making. The damage is immediate and permanent. We’ve seen an increase in violence and car accidents in the pandemic, and they may be related.
Increased age limits, waiting periods, and elimination of rapid fire weapons and body armor from the civilian population are essential steps, but people will find other ways to act out. We can reduce the homicide and suicide rate, but we won’t come close to zero.

Thank you for adding your viewpoint, Vic. I agree, we’ll never get the homicide and suicide rates to zero, but gun restrictions will limit casualty rates which is a necessary step at this point. It seems like even people who prefer numbers to emotional arguments could see how restricting guns would save lives.

I’m at a loss for how anyone can watch our children in particular get slaughtered & follow that with “but my 2A rights.” These people packing guns in the Target checkout line have me 🤦🏻♀️.
