Waiting for the guy to ring up my tires I start looking around. There’s cobwebs at the tops of all the storefront windows. All of them. I’m seriously wondering if anyone’s ever cleaned the place. Phones look like they’re original to the building with that clanging ring so…nope, still not sure, but that’s a lot of cobwebs.
Like I’m one to talk, my bathroom’s a mess. I know I should just clean it. I woke up at 7am on a Saturday for Pete’s sake, I should just add it to my To Do list. Anyone else think that cleaning a bathroom on a Saturday feels extra sad? Like the weekend should be used for happy-ish things? Just me then, okay okay.
I get why nobody cares about the cobwebs though. It’s one of the few car places we’ve worked with lately with honest, upfront estimates and on time work completion and damn, that’s gold. I had to storm the gates at the dealership last weekend to rescue the Honda since they’d run two days over, couldn’t find the problem, and the guy working on it had put the car up on the lift Friday and just left it there when he wouldn’t be back until Monday. Without calling us.
I had Big Feelings™. And yes, I know, never take it to the dealership but we’d never had a problem before so I guess this falls under you don’t have a problem…until you do. Lesson learned.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “ring.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Bonus points if you use it as both. Have fun!
Having cleaned the bathroom this Saturday, yes it is sad. Not even music and hot drinks can do anything about this.

But maybe music and hot drinks would be a good reward for doing such a crummy job.

I always wait to clean on weekends even when I have time during the week. I also kinda like cleaning, what a treat! lol. Okay not really a treat but sure feels good when everything is all neat & spiffy again.

This is logical. Why won’t my brain tell me this then? I think I’d be much more likely to clean if I remembered how good it feels on the other side.

I have found dealer service to be uniformly bad and expensive. Bathroom on Saturday? I would guess it’s not the best way to spend a weekend. Having said that I assume everyone uses it on Saturday so maybe that’s a way around the sad factor.

Your logic is sound, John.

Ha! Cleaning the bathroom is on my weekend list, although I don’t know why. I can do this any day of the week. Anyhow, I never take my vehicle to the spotless, huge dealership unless there is recall work to be done. They are hugely expensive and I never trust them when they hand me a long list of “you need to have these things fixed.” Yeah, I’ll go to the garage with the cobwebs too.

BrightSide asked about that comment and I’m all confused that nobody’s ever said that to him. I think people said it to me in a “they’ll price gouge you” way. He’s a big proponent of Honda (or whatever type of car) certified parts so he loves a dealer.

I have to be in a certain energetic mood to clean the bathroom, especially the tub. There are more important things. Cobwebs make great Halloween decorations.

‘Tis the season, I suppose. 😆

I like cleaning on weekends! I guess I’m weird (as usual), but it makes me feel organized and in control of my life (the illusion of)…

The irony is I *too* feel organized and in control after cleaning…I just can’t seem to make myself do it. The motivational factor is a problem.

We had an honest car guy for almost 40 years before he retired. That was as sad as cleaning the bathroom on a Saturday – nope, not just you.

Good to know. I’ve experienced some sad retirements — most recently the woman I’d finally found who could cut curly hair well. That one almost drove me to drink. 😂

I’m all about the Saturday/sad/bathroom connection and I’d say the cobwebs are a small price to pay for good service and small prices

All that right there.
