BrightSide and I are not typically a fly by the seat of our pants sort of couple.  I keep a crazy absurd ridiculously detailed calendar.  We coordinate schedules.  We make plans.  When we leave town we have an itinerary, even if large blocks of it are dedicated to Down Time.

I’m not gonna say we always go by the book, but we definitely aren’t used to tossing the book out the window entirely.

Until last weekend.

What began as a wrench thrown into our plans to leave town turned into a terrific family weekend.  Sure, it started out with BrightSide and me in the front seat, staring wide eyed at each other as we realized how utterly we’d dropped the ball on what we’ll call Plan A.  Like, really dropped the ball.  Then set fire to it for good measure.

But Plan B was a brilliant combination of adrenaline, panic, and lightning paced brainstorming that landed the four of us at Great Wolf Lodge for the weekend.  Two days of watching T-man and Bear just be kids…silly, adventurous, fun loving, and on fire with the joy of being old enough to go off on their own.

Sometimes the best plans are the ones that go awry.
