Growing up, did your parents take you to visit your uncles, aunts and grandparents regularly?

Not regularly. We were a military family which meant we pretty much lived on our own.

If so, did you enjoy those visits and try to get out of them? If not, did you parents take you on outings (the zoo, beach etc).

Okay, so here’s the thing. I’ve mentioned before that no matter how hard I try I cannot squeeze decent childhood memory from my brain matter. I know I had a childhood but it’s like I’ve got swiss cheese up there so basically I have no idea what to say.

What kind of holidays did you have with your parents?

Well, the 4th of July is real big with military families. I remember New Year’s eve being a big deal too….and I just now remembered that “holidays” in this sense means “vacations” to Americans. Whoops. Based on my best recollections (see swiss cheese memory commentary above) I don’t think we did much of that. There wasn’t a lot of extra for vacations. I distinctly remember the time we went to Disney World and I showed my whole middle school aged (or elementary?) rear end.

Did you have pets of your own, or just a family pet?

We had a family pet, a Siamese cat who adored my mom.

Gratitude:

Cooler but not cold days, a tubby kitty who loves on me, a boy kitty who sometimes snuggles, the hubby who indeed is still very much a look-on-the-bright-side, and two young adult kiddos forging their own paths in the world.
