Which do you prefer, Christmas pudding, mince pies, or trifle?

I’m so delighted that a number of bloggers I follow are from other countries! As it is, I’ve never had any of these so google to the rescue. (Well, Duck Duck Go. If you’re in America you understand.) I believe I’d be most likely to enjoy a trifle.

Which gives you the most satisfaction:
Cooking a special meal for your family:
Dining with family and friends:
Not having to do the washing up afterwards.

I’m gonna have to go with not having to do the washing up afterwards. While the stressful moments of cooking or dining can be a blip of discomfort, cleaning up dishes after cooking a whole meal can make me rage-y.

Can you recall the best and worst gift you received (any occasion)?

I’m pretty sure a student gave me an ashtray one year. Never was a smoker, never became a smoker, so technically it was a terrible gift but it came from kindness (in that he was thinking of me…not so much the tobacco addiction part).

There’ve been a number of special gifts over the years but one that looked like a big question mark and turned into a win was — wait for it — a hair dryer. I opened that one Christmas morning and just blinked at BrightSide. I’m not a big hair girly but he was so excited. Damned if that Dyson didn’t deliver, too, even for a mid-level hair styler like myself. In the end it was an unexpected and delightful win.

After a full and enjoyable meal what do you prefer to do:
Take a nap:
Watch TV:
Play board games with the kids.

Man, folks who answer play board games with the kids are built different because a full meal will wear me out! I’ll usually choose watching tv but sometimes those meals sit heavy so I’ll drop off into a nap. I didn’t fully understand “I’m just resting my eyes” until I got older.

Gratitude:

Squirrels playing at the window feeder, deer behind the back fence, hawks in flight, holiday gatherings that go relatively smoothly, and a Christmas tree that’s still upright.
