Would you consider yourself easy going?

Bless it, Di’s coming in hot with the very first question. I used to answer yes to this. In my younger days I used to tell people, “I’m low maintenance, easy going, I’ve got big emotions but I’m relatively low-key”… And if you know me now, I know you’re laughing hysterically.

No, I don’t consider myself easy going. And if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t really like to talk about current events or politics or world domination or the shit show that is happening on the streets then you don’t think I’m easy going either. Love you, mean it.

Are you comfortable talking to a group of strangers at a social gathering?

The life I’ve lived has required me to do this often and I’ve been told I’m good at it but talking with a group of strangers has never been my comfort zone. As a matter of fact, sometimes I cope with the discomfort by just clicking immediately into oh we all know each other so well, and that right there is how you end up saying wildly inappropriate things to people you met an hour ago. I’d rather choose a handful of people I know in that room – that’s much more relaxing for me and I’m likely to have more fun.

What are three things about people that annoy you?

Good grief, Di, are you trying to get me to run off people? Oh well…here goes.

Fussy, super fancy, judgemental people who name drop.

A refusal to look at multiple news sources and critically think about the narrative being presented in the media.

Seeing some people as less worthy because they don’t meet an expectation you have for polite society – although this is more rage inducing than annoying so it may not belong in this answer.

What do you do to cheer yourself up when you’re feeling down in the dumps?

Write, bake, watch a soothing or familiar movie/TV show, talk with a good friend or my sister, and cuddle up with a cat when they feel like cooperating.

Gratitude:

The ice storm didn’t hit my area as hard as predicted, a blue sky this morning, Brightside for filling our birdfeeders so I could watch the birds during the storm, excellent coffee (as always), and being far enough post-op that I’ve come off of the major pain medication.
