Geese really are quite adorable.
I was shocked to learn this isn’t exactly a widely held belief. To be honest, I’ve heard some pretty graphic things said about geese. Disturbing things. Things that qualify as credible, real, and imminent threats against those poor little Canadian geese.
The world could use a bit more Lexapro. Just sayin’.
Anyway, it was startling to learn that some people hate geese so much they literally wish death upon their small beaky heads. Considering we’re at the lake and I just watched a mama and papa goose lead their little goslings across the water…well, let’s just say butchering a family of birds because you don’t like their poop seems a little extreme.
Can’t we all just chill out and get along? Sheesh.

I have the best photo of my you gest as a toddler being chased by a goose, nearly with his pants in its beak! As a result, he is quite cautious around them. Lol

I love them. All geese. They have been known to ‘duck sit’ by the lake in LSU, chasing off potential threats. BTW, I believe they are Canada Geese, not citizens but part time residents for sure. 😉

Because tolerance. YES and YES. Good job, city people. 😉

They’re a nuisance because poo and ducks. We have them all the time, year-round, and many suburban neighborhoods are anti-geese, because they gather en masse and poo all over the pristine subdivisions. There are geese patrol. Humane, but not too nice.
My MIL hates geese. AND SHE LIVES ON… — you know what, I will message you.
Here in the city, we don’t give a flying fig about geese, because tolerance, even of goose poo, is important.
They DO take over ponds that are previously held by ducks. Bit of a bully, that way, but also, natural order.
I very much enjoy watching them scoot their babies across the street, cause city.

Whoa! Where are people hoping to kill the geese? I don’t think I’ve ever heard this before. How sad

Ack! I overshot the mark! No geese destruction plan is in motion.
This is mostly tongue in cheek based on the offhand (and not so kind) comments people have made. When I saw a geese family over Memorial Day my friend noted that the goslings are cute but he could do without the geese. That made me think about the comments hubby has made about what a pain they are, and THAT made me think about how many neighbors have said something (see my pond comment above)…snowball effect.
Sometime yesterday afternoon the title caught my eye again & I wondered how much the G7 summit was at work subliminally. Then Trump went and tweeted that crap about Trudeau last night… 🙄

I love the geese! They winter over down here by the thousands. Since we live right by a playa lake, we see them all the time, and they are very noisy, but cool to watch flying around. 🙂

They *can* be really noisy! Sort of like a big geesey cocktail party. 😆

I love geese, but let’s face it, they can be a real pain in the ass. There was a house not far from where I worked in the Chicago area that had a huge lawn in front, and during migration season it was like a gathering place. There’d be hundreds of them wandering around, sometimes into traffic so you’d have to slam on the brakes. Did you know, if you honk your horn at a goose, the goose honks back at you?

No, I did NOT know that and now that I’m picturing it I can’t stop laughing!!
I’m sure you’re right, we’ve just never had to deal with being the gathering place. 🤷🏻♀️

I had no idea some people feel that way. I wonder why that is.

I’ve asked. General consensus seems to be the poop. 🤷🏻♀️

Geese on a lake = perfect. Geese in a public park pooping where kids walk, not so much. But I agree, they are fun to watch and deserve to walk about where they land!

We have a pond in our neighborhood — not near my house but I do get to drive by every day. I’m betting those folks could do without 15 geese parked in their yard! 😆

I love watching geese. I know they’re messy, but so are humans. I mean, when was the last time a flock of geese cut down a tract of wooded land, just to build a new Wal*Mart?

I’m with you on this 100%. I think Canadian geese are beautiful. I love it when people stop their cars to let a family cross the street, though it always worries me.

This spring is the first one I’ve seen families of geese moving across the lake. Precious!!
