Do you prefer a sofa (aka couch, settee) or an armchair to relax in?
For decades I was 100% a sofa girl but then we moved to our current house. The room layout required dropping an end table off our setup and while I love a coffee table all day long — seriously, I’ll go to battle to put one in a room — I need the side table for beverages. So now I’m an armchair girl, will wonders never cease.
Do you prefer to sit at a table to eat your meals, or on a tray?
Either will work for me. My only solid rule of thumb is no plates on the lap because nothing screams impending disaster in my life like balancing a plate of food. It’s a klutz thing.
Do you enjoy a glass of wine with your main meal?
Rarely. I like wine in a decidedly unserious way — no “full-bodied with notes of cherry and tobacco” thank you very much, I’ll take wine that’s ridiculously fruity. But I get wonky at dinner because food makes me, y’know, thirsty so wine isn’t my first choice of dinnertime beverage.
How do you like your chips (aka fries), with salt, sauce, mayo or something else?
Well salted with ketchup or ranch for dipping. If I’m feeling spunky they’ll have some melted cheese on top, too.
Gratitude:
I feel like a big wuss saying this but I’m 1000% grateful for air conditioning right now because it’s too bloody hot for any reasonable person to tolerate. Our air quality is trash, too, so I’m grateful for our air purifier.

Thanks for joining in Laura. Good gratitude………. our a/c is opening a window! We’ve had rain for the past few days so the temperature has dropped

Oh gracious. We’ve had a bit of rain and at least it dropped the air quality alert from red to orange, expected to be yellow tomorrow so that’s good. We’re still looking at a high of 88 with 90% humidity so 😂

Yeah, I’m all about recliners – preferably the manual kind as opposed to the electric which are so heavy they’re impossible to move. Except for holidays, for years we’re eaten on trays. Sometimes plate on lap, which almost always results in spills down the front of me, which requires wardrobe replacement, which is fun, but the budget isn’t thrilled. Wine is fine with a meal, or just when I’m watching TV in the evening. Fries plain – tator tots are best with blue cheese or ranch dressing. I am grateful for air conditioning in the summer, and heat in the winter – and always, a sunny day.

I love your answers, Carol. The doc says this recliner is bad for my back but the couch is too and since I don’t plan to put a straight back chair in my family room for ‘lounging’ I guess I’ve picked my poison, so to speak. And *thank you* for saying that about eating on trays. We do it most of the time and somehow I feel guilty, like if we’re not sitting at the kitchen table I’m doing a bad job? Stay cool and have a great week.
